(1) The sliders for adjusting scan speed, blanking, etc are hard to set with the mouse. It would be helpful if you could also move them with the arrow keys once you select them, for fine tuning. Also, it seems excessive to have the sliders go to 50 for blanking. A smaller range might make them easier to adjust.
(2) Since the Moncha is designed for the hobby level, it might be nice to add an option for scanners with only 2 lasers. A lot of hobby people have red and green lasers in their scanners but not blue. I would suggest an option that allows mapping blue to some Red/Green value. I know that it would make the colors come out weird but at least it would draw the complete picture with more than one color.
Thanks again!

(1) I could do it like when the mouse is over some slider, you can move it with keyboard. By the way, in latest release you can adjust position in edit dialog with mouse.
(2) I didn’t know that, ok, will try to do it in some next release.

You could also use a spinner control instead of the slider.

Hello, as there are some suggestions here i’d add mine although i don’t know if it’s unrealistic. Is there a possibility to create some plugin for analyzing the input music and drawing appropriate VU meter o osciloscope? Something you can see in Winamp in the small window under the time information.

Right now we don’t plan to implement this feature. The reason is, it is not so amazing to be honest. More important is “sound-to-light”, where Moncha/Fiesta would be able to switch the effects to the music. We’ll see if this will be possible.

Is there any shortcut like F1-F10 for banks or letters to switch effects but for resetting the speed of animation? My point is sometimes in the music there are these epic parts before beat where there is some breakdown, then some melody appears and after that the beats start to graduate up to some point where it stops for a while and then normal beat continues. Usually this graduation is followed by faster and faster beat or hihats and volume increase – that’s the point where i’m sliding the animation speed up until the point where the regular beat starts but then i have to quickly switch animation and slide the speed down to certain level that fits to the beat. With some shortcut that will reset this it will be a lot easier and quicker. I would just press the desired effect and something like Ctrl+R or anything to reset the speed. I know Moncha isn’t targeted for live shows but until i get money for Fiesta i have to do some shows with Moncha to earn them.

Regarding to the speed one other thing came to my mind, is it possible to save the animation speed setting separately for each bank? That way i could prepare the effects for various BPM speeds in different banks. But this is maybe useless if you plan the “sound-to-light” function in some of the future releases.

maybe it’s a coincidence, i found this thread started by a guy called carmangary who started this thread as well http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/sho … d+card+DAC in his software there is this “Click me” button to create marks in timeline so you can quickly and easily synchronize it to the beat, that would speed up the creation process of a show
it’d be nice to have such feature in moncha although i’m not sure if it’s not patented by him or something…June 12, 2010 at 6:29 pm #1006This feature is available in Fiesta. We don’t plan to use it in Moncha. And as far as we know, it’s not patented.

when adjusting the position of an element with mouse in the prevew window (x, y up to 32k) is it possible to make some “lock” key that would align just along one axis? something similar has photoshop i guess if you hold down ctrl the selection moves only along one axis, that would make the positioning faster and more convenient, now if you try to move it along one axis it will randomly move along the other one as my hand is shaking =)
January 8, 2011 at 7:52 pm #1042Well there is an easier way – to use keyboard arrows. With shift you can move faster.

thanks for the tip, that makes the placement a lot easier now, i noticed that ctrl key makes it even faster
one more question popped in my head yesterday at an event, does Moncha have some global beam attenuation map settings? i mean something in the global output settings where you set the height and width of the projection and the positioning, there could be some palette slider as is within the edit scene color changer but this one would not set colors but the beam intensity (in % or 0-255 range as with colors) so you can add for example up to 4 points to border the intensity, that way it would be possible to steer the beam intensity in the lower parts where it shoots into the audience but even in the higher parts if there was a balcony in the room for example
i’m not sure if i described it somehow easy to understand and also maybe this is only a Fiesta feature but as one of the mechanisms for safe lasershows it would be nice to have it even in Moncha
January 13, 2011 at 9:13 am #1044Right now there is no brightness map in Moncha. Moncha was ment to be used with small laser systems up to about 500mW power, so there was no requirement for such feature. Anyway, we’ll see about new Moncha.
And yes, this feature is of course available for Fiesta. Also with one special feature called “Super-blank” to protect expensive TV cameras…
